Budapest SWAT Team Confiscates Guns Set To Be Used In Zombie Movie World War Z

While the zombies in the upcoming Marc Forster directed film World War Z aren’t likely to be the real deal, the guns set to be used in the film apparently were, which caused a bit of a snag for the movie, which is currently filming in Budapest. Today, a SWAT team raided a warehouse in the Hungarian capital, confiscating weapons that were meant to be props in the film.

According to Us Weekly the film, which stars Brad Pitt, is over budget and over schedule, which means it probably can’t afford to hit roadblocks like violating Anti-Terrorism laws, but that’s apparently what's happened. The SWAT team seized 85 fully-functional weapons, many of which were automatic military-style assault weapons. These are just the types of guns one would probably want on hand if facing an army of zombies, however that kind of artillery seems a bit excessive when it’s just for pretend.

The error at hand may not be the functionality of the guns, as Us reports that their source says, “The movie company's employees must have made a mistake bringing the guns in without the Anti-Terrorism Unit's permission.” While the guns set to be used for the movie were in fact real weapons, the paperwork that came with them said otherwise, which is a bit unnerving, to say the least. Is it safe to assume they weren’t loaded? When it comes to functioning automatic assault rifles, I’m thinking it isn’t safe to assume anything.
