While they may still be young, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum don't
really look like they can pass for high school students anymore. It was
fine five years ago, when they were starring in movies like Superbad and She's The Man,
but they are now 28 and 31, respectively. As a result, there were a few
raised eyebrows when it was reported that the two actors would be
starring in 21 Jump Street, a movie based on the 80s television
series about young-looking cops who would infiltrate high schools to
stop teenage crime. Fortunately, it looks like the folks behind the film
are fully aware of how old Hill and Tatum look, as evidenced by the
first red band trailer released today on Facebook.
Check out the first preview of the film below.
While there were a few moments that I laughed out loud watching this
trailer (It's Ron Swanson!) , overall it left me feeling kind of "meh".
The movie has a lot of great things going for it - from a Jonah
Hill-written script to Phil Lord and Chris Miller behind the camera to
the expected cameo by Johnny Depp - and I'm still looking forward to
seeing what they can do with the concept, but hopefully the next trailer
packs a little more punch.
21 Jump Street also stars Ice Cube, Ellie Kemper, Dave Franko,
Brie Larson, Jake M. Johnson, Johnny Simmons and Rob Riggle. The film is
set to hit theaters on March 16th.
