Arnold Schwarzenegger In Talks For Action/Thriller Captive

People constantly complain that the 24-hour news cycle and constant entertainment access has reduced our attention spans to zero, but there is one group of people that absolutely love it: those embroiled in scandals. Back in May Arnold Schwarzenegger had to put his Hollywood comeback on hold when it was revealed that he had a love child with one of his employees and was separating from his wife. Now, only four months later, Schwarzenegger has gotten his acting career back on track and is set to star in Kim Jee-woon's The Last Stand and he's even started picking up multiple projects for further down the line.

Deadline reports that the former California governor is now in talks to join an indie thriller titled Captive. It was just three days ago that it was reported the actor would have a more "substantial" role in The Expendables 2. The script, written by Benjamin van der Veen and Kario Salem based on a story by Nicolai Fuglsig, is set in Brazil and tells the story of a real estate magnate (Schwarzenegger) who gets kidnapped. Held captive in an armored truck buried in a landfill, the man works to try and find a way out while a detective on the outside is assigned the case. Fuglsig was originally going to direct, but ended up deciding not to. The search is currently on to find a filmmaker to helm the project.

You know what's kind of sad? This plot would have been viewed as utterly ridiculous back in the 80s. Kidnappers are able to capture and contain Arnold Schwarzenegger? That's ridiculous. In 2011, however, it doesn't seem so odd.
